Join this webinar to learn how to use NI test hardware and software, including PXI Vector Signal Transceivers (VSTs) and RFmx, for RF component and device noise-figure measurements. It includes some background on noise-figure theory and application, provides an overview of the hardware and software used, and concludes with a live demonstration of taking Y-factor noise-figure measurements using both an external noise source and NI’s synthetic noise source.

This demo will take you through a step-by-step process of configuring NI’s RF platform for noise-figure measurements, including setting up the RFmx front panels in InstrumentStudioTM software. The second portion of the demo includes a guide to calibrating instruments for noise-figure measurements and removing the contribution of noise from the signal analyzer in the system. The final portion of the demo is a step-by-step process of performing Y-factor noise-figure measurements using a third-party external noise source connected to the signal chain, and using NI’s synthetic noise source, which involves using the signal generator of the PXI VST to remove the ENS from the system entirely.

This is a great getting-started guide for anyone new to RF test on the NI platform and will showcase how to quickly begin taking measurements using PXI VSTs and RFmx. Gain a detailed understanding of the benefits of using the NI platform, including its simplified setup and flexible software.
